Dette træsnit kalder jeg DEN TYSKE DAGBOG. Det viser en kvinde som skriver sin rejsedagbog i en mindre tysk by. Nu trykker jeg grønt. Der mangler endnu nogle få farver.

This woodcut I call THE GERMAN DIARY. I depicts a woman writing her travel diary in a
smaller German city. Now I print green. A few colours are still needed.

Dette er mit næste træsnit. Jeg trykker det med rødt og sort. Nu skærer jeg videre i pladen, som jeg lige har trykt rødt med, og så trykker jeg den sorte farve ovenpå.
This is my next woodcut. I print it with red and black. Now I am going to cut more of the plate which I used for red and then I shall print with black on top of the red.

Jeg er lige blevet færdig med at trykke blomsternes gule farve og hårets farve. Begge farver er trykt med den samme trykstok, som ses nederst. Jeg glæder mig til at trykke den næste farve. Det er sort, og den farve ændrer altid trykket meget.

I have just printed the yellow colour of the flowers and the colour of the hair. Both colours have been printed with the same printing block. I am looking forward to print the next colour, black. That colour always makes a great difference to the print.

Den lysegrå farve opnås ved at trykke en gennemsigtig hvid ovenpå den grå.

I get the light grey colour by printing a transparent white ink on top of the grey.
